Modern Arabia and the balance of wealth and a simple appearance before God – Photo #6

Photo #6 comes from a recent visit to the Sheik Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The mosque is another example of man building a grand structure for the glory of God.  Although we are non-Muslims, to enter the mosque my wife had to put on an abaya.  I was able to go in as dressed.

I struggled giving this photo a title, primarily because I see a lot of things in this image.

The photo is of my wife walking to the main entrance of the worship area of the mosque.  There is the contrast of her black abaya and the yellow of her purse.  The Arab woman heading to worship in one of the grandest mosques outside of Saudi Arabia.  A simple picture, but it is a reflection of the modern Arab to me.  Because God has been good to the Arab world by enriching them with oil, and the need for oil to fuel (pardon the pun) the world economy, it has provided tremendous wealth to this part of the world.   The typical Arab in this part of the world has a sort of richness of color in their material possessions which is balanced with the simple dress by the Arabs – men and women.

I hope you enjoy the picture.

About Jerry Harrison's Photo blog

Just sharing images I've taken that I think are worth sharing, and a little of the story behind them. What is a photo worth if you don't know why it was taken.
