Light a candle for me…Photo 21

21_Light a candle for me

In churches all over the world candles are lit by the faithful to mark or request a prayer.

Lighting candles has a purpose and a meaning to each person that performs the act.

Candles are lit during times of tragedy – September 11 and during times of celebration – birthdays.

Photo 21 is from the Il Duomo in Florence, Italy during a visit in October 2012.

It is one of the most interesting votive candle displays I’ve ever seen.

Given the long history of the church (consecrated 1436) and amount of wax on this candle tree, a lot of prayers have been offered.

I really enjoyed our trip to Italy and Florence last year, and seeing things like this made it special.

I hope you enjoy the photo.

Just sharing images I've taken that I think are worth sharing, and a little of the story behind them. What is a photo worth if you don't know why it was taken.
